In 2013 the taleneted artist Eduardo Kobra painted the very birlliant V-J Day Kiss mural near the High Line in Chelsea, New York. The painting stood out with its vibrant colours and obvious humage to the extremely famous photo V-J Day in Times Square, a photo taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt on August 14, 1945.
While our team was over in New York in 2014 we were lucky enough to see the fantastic art work and take some pictures of it. It just stood out while walking the High Line, the colours and the size, it was one of the better peices we witnessed in NYC. Sadly we have just found out the piece was covered over in 2016. There was no statement released as to why this happened but it's believed to have been the building owner. No one wants to say they they were the one to destroy famous artwork in New York of all cities.
Now the building has been knocked down and as far as we know it's a building sight. It's part of the natural progression of a city, old buildings get knocked down to make way for new apartments or buisnesses. It's still sad to see amazing art work vanish or move on. Thank you to artist Kobra for the fantastic mural that we will never forget.
